The captivating images were skillfully captured by wildlife photographer Mayuresh Hendre, who had the extraordinary opportunity to observe the elusive creature identified as Kazi 106-F. Situated in the heart of Assam, Kaziranga National Park is celebrated for its diverse wildlife, and it stands as the sole recognized habitat for the Golden Tiger in India, also bearing the reference as the golden tabby tiger or the strawberry tiger. This Bengal tiger variant boasts a distinctive golden coat resulting from a genetic mutation influencing its fur coloration. With fewer than 30 golden tigers estimated to exist globally, sightings are exceptionally rare, sparking excitement among wildlife enthusiasts and conservationists.

The park’s varied ecosystem, marked by expansive grasslands and dense forests, creates an ideal setting for these tigers by providing abundant hiding spots and a thriving prey population. The existence of the Brahmaputra River and additional water sources contribute significantly to the survival and proliferation of these magnificent animals. Kaziranga National Park, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands as a testament to effective conservation endeavours. It plays a pivotal role in safeguarding diverse species, including the Indian one-horned rhinoceros and the Royal Bengal Tiger.

The rigorous protection protocols implemented in accordance with Indian wildlife conservation laws have played a crucial role in safeguarding the park’s residents. The golden tiger, distinguished by its remarkable appearance and scarcity, becomes a symbolic representation of the significance of conservation efforts and the delicate equilibrium necessary for sustaining the natural environment. It serves as a poignant reminder of the beauty and diversity of nature that Kaziranga National Park is committed to preserving.
