Elephant safari tour is a fabulous selection of itineraries aimed for people who wish to see forests of varied topography and capture a glimpse of wild animals more closely. Since the maximum area of the park is easily accessible, one could closely see herds of one-horned rhinos roaming around. It gives you a chance to view animals in their natural habitat at close quarters — the rich fauna of Kaziranga converts your trip into a rewarding experience.

Elephant safari is the best and safest way to explore the remotest and untouched areas of Kaziranga forests. If you are keen on exploring denser areas and searching for unseen creatures, an elephant ride is the best option. It helps visitors traverse difficult terrains where jeeps cannot reach. Advance booking is advisable. Elephant seats are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Safari Zones

Elephant Safari Zones in Kaziranga National Park

The park is split into four zones, but elephant safari is organized in only two: the Central or Kohora range and the Western or Bagori range. Usually, guests prefer the western zone for a close view of rhinos. Do not judge a particular zone — all zones take you to the heart of the park. Every zone is unique in terms of forests, grasslands, density of mammals and birds, land topography and terrains.

Central Range or Kohora Range: The starting point is Mihimukh riding tower. Guests can take elephant safari in this range for a maximum of one hour. Rides pass through Dagland and Foliomari. Designated route: Mihimukh → Kathpora → Daphlang → Diffolu River Bank → Mona Beel → Karasing & back.

Western Range or Bagori: The starting point is Bagori headquarters. Guests usually prefer this zone for close views of one-horned rhinos. Designated route: Dongabeel → Rouman → Rajapukhuri → Monabeel & back.
