Jeep Safari in Kaziranga National Park is permitted on designated tourist's path that is decided by the forest officials. Currently the areas covered in a Jeep Safari are as following:
Maximum four Gypsies are allowed to enter at a time in each of these designated tour circuits. These vehicles take about one to two hours that starts everyday early in the morning and during the early afternoon. Before making entry to the park prior approval of the park authority is needed. No private vehicles are allowed to enter inside the park. The travelers to the Kaziranga National Park need to hire a Jeep (Maruti Gypsy) that is registered with Jeep Safari Associations at Kohora and Bagori booking place. These Jeep Safari associations are run & managed by the local unemployed youth of the nearby villages. All such vehicles are registered with the head park authority and have valid registration before entry to the park. Jeep Safari in Kaziranga is a regular activity so the vehicles are permitted only from 07:00 AM to 04:00 PM every day. Once you enter into the park, you are abide by the certain rules and regulations. It is strictly prohibited to get down from vehicle other than the identified landing points. Every safari vehicle is provided armed escorts, no unescorted vehicle is allowed inside the park. You are required to pay requisite entry fee for vehicles (Jeep Safari vehicles), camera and video camera etc.
Before making entry to the park tourists are required to hire a Jeep from a local tour operator whose vehicles are registered with the park authority. After that a group of five people (e.g. 3 Indians and 02 foreigners) can go inside the park provided group shall have to pay the following requisite fee for one Jeep.
The safari is conducted by the forest department in two different shifts. Morning Jeep Safari timing is 07:00 AM to 09:30 AM. Afternoon Jeep safari timing is 01:30 PM to 03:30 PM.
