One of the biggest National Parks in India, the Kaziranga National Park is being the only forest in the world with such a large number of one-horned Rhinoceros. Boasting of being the natural habitat for more than two thousand of the one-horned Rhinos, the Kaziranga Forest is the best place to get the unhindered sighting of the many large wild animals such as tigers, leopards, wild elephants, Rhinoceros, wild buffalo and many others along with the Wild Boars, Hoolock Gibbons, different species of deer, Goar, Sambhar and many other small wild species.
Declared as the World Heritage site by the UNESCO, this amazing wildlife-rich forest is located in the Northeastern zone of India in the state of Assam. The landscape that spreads along the River Brahmaputra on the north side and touching the Karbi Anglong hills on the south constitutes a dense greenery rich forest belt to provide shelter to a large number of wildlife species. The location of the park is well connected through the state roadways and National Highway. With the railway station and airport located not so far, the park can easily be accessed through any part of the country or abroad.
The park remains open from November to April months of every year for the wildlife lovers to visit and explore the amazing wildlife that resides in the park by using the safari services organized by the forest officials. Though the forest of Kaziranga can be accessed only through the roadways but by using the railways and airways, one can reach the nearest point to the park from where the park can be reached using the roadway transport. By Flight - The nearest airport to the park is Guwahati and Jorhat Airport, which are located at the distance of 240 km and 90 km respectively from the park. From the both airports there is a connecting road to the park. By using these airports one can reach the park from any corner of the world. However, there is a facility to land the private charters just near the park.
By Train - The nearest railway station to Kaziranga Park is Furkating which is located at a distance of 80 km. The station is well connected by the trains to the major railway stations like Guwahati, Kolkata and New Delhi. However, travelers can also use the other nearest railway stations which are the Guwahati railway station and Jorhat railway station located at the distance of 240 km and 90 km respectively.
By Road - The Kaziranga Park is about 240 km from the Guwahati city, the largest city of Assam. The Guwahati city is well connected to the major cities of India through the Roadways, Railways and Airways and also connected with the many other tourist destinations of Assam and nearby States. The other town nearby the park is Jorhat town at a distance of 88 km and well connected by a road. You get the public Bus service from these cities to Kaziranga and reach the park conveniently.
